RUKUS x RWANDA since 2007
Tribal based genocide occurred in Rwanda in 1994. Child survivors, through the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), benefit elementary school educational programs through vocational training opportunities. However, all children are not able to become gainfully employed after such training. Rwanda domesticated Water Buffalo Antlers Program (WBAP) was established in November 29, 2007 with the aim of providing employment opportunities for such youth. Through the collaborative efforts of RUKUS and former JICA staff, the jewelry brand RUKUS through its sales, contributes 50% of earnings from the WBAP to Rwandan youth.
ルワンダのツチ族とフツ族によるルワンダ領域内及び隣接諸国においてジェノサイドが起きてもうすぐ 20年が経ちます。ルワンダ内戦後、JICAの援助によりジェノサイドで生き残った子供たちが学校で教育を受け、職業訓練にも通えるようになりました。しかし、職業訓練後に全ての子供が仕事に就ける状態ではない現状を知り、就職先として2007年11月29日にルワンダ牛の角細工工房が日本人の元・青年海外協力隊員の協力により設立されました。彼らの前向きな姿勢に感銘を受け、ジュエリーブランドRUKUSではルワンダ牛の角細工工房で働く子供たちに働くことの喜び、そして働くことの楽しさを学んで頂けるよう、収益の50%をルワンダ牛の角細工工房へ寄付をすることを目的として、2008年4月よりジュエリーブランドRUKUSとのコラボレーションライン、 RUKUS x RWANDAを立ち上げました。
